To the pool… and beyond

June 4th, 2019 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Disney fans can blast off with Buzz, Woody and friends when Toy Story themed swimming sessions launch in County Durham pools this summer.

Each session will feature a host of much-loved characters and 10 fun-packed activities perfect for the whole family, from the Alien crane game to Jessie’s Lasso fun.

The Disney inspired swim sessions at Spennymoor Leisure Centre and The Louisa Centre, Stanley, were launched at the weekend.

Following the launch event, regular weekly sessions will be held at Spennymoor Leisure Centre on Mondays from 10.45am-11.30am during term-time and 9am-9.45am during school holidays, and at The Louisa Centre on Tuesdays from 11.30am-12.15pm.

The regular sessions, priced at £4 per one adult and one child (all children must be supervised by an adult in the pool), are pay as you go.

Durham County Council’s principal aquatics manager, Kaye Stephenson, said: “The Disney sessions are a fantastic way to keep your family healthy, happy and active this summer. They’re aimed at three to eleven-year-olds and their families and are the perfect way to learn essential swimming skills whilst having loads of fun with colourful props, and lots of exciting games.”

The Toy Story 4 sessions have been organised in partnership between Swim England and Disney, following the success of their Finding Dory swim sessions in 2016.
