THIS WEEK’S TV HIGHLIGHTS

March 12th, 2012 Martin Walker Features 0 comments 0

Brodie Millichap picks out this week’s TV highlights…

Five Picks of the Week

Scott and Bailey: Monday ITV1, 9pm.
Lesley Sharpe and Suranne Jones return for a new series as police detectives in the popular crime drama. In the first of a two-part story, the duo discover a badly burned body of a disabled man in a remote part of Manchester. Two days later and another corpse is found. The race is on to catch the murderer before he kills again.

CSI Crime Scene Investigation: Tuesday Channel 5, 9pm.
The hit American crime drama returns to Channel 5 for yet another new series on Tuesday. Ted Danson joins the popular cast as the team’s new leader, DB Russell. Expect to see many different cases, with various outcomes, as the team use their CSI skills to uncover the mystery.

The Fisherman’s Apprentice with Monty Halls: Wednesday BBC2, 8pm.
This week expect to see Monty out at sea and back on shore as he reveals some of fishing’s unknown facts. Out at sea, Monty is riding the rough seas on Cornwall’s largest crab-fishing boat. Back on shore and he is following the vessel’s catch to Brittany where he takes a look around a local restaurant and a supermarket.

Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields: Wednesday Channel 4, 10:55pm.
Jon Snow follows up on his powerful documentary from last year as he investigates war crimes during the Sri Lankan civil war’s final days. Safe to say this documentary will be just as powerful as Snow looks at the real fall-out from such a war. Emotive viewing.

Benidorm: Friday ITV1, 9pm.
The latest episode of the comedy drama sees Trudy desperately trying to be ladylike for 24 hours to win a bet with Sam. Meanwhile the Garveys are alarmed by rumours of gangs kidnapping people and become panicked when Michael says he saw Madge being bungled into a car by a stranger.

Soap Watch:
In Coronation Street the hunt for Frank’s killer is on with both Carla and Kevin heavily suspected by the police. Carla has a break down under all the pressure and this sparks Peter into confessing that he killed Frank. But did he?
Emmerdale sees Holly rushed to hospital after she finally takes the heroin she bought earlier in the week as the pressure gets too much for her. Will she be OK?
In Eastenders Tanya finally gets the results of her MRI scan, but will it be good news? The repercussions could be huge.
