The winner bakes it all – community charity ‘kneads’ you to crown star baker

September 26th, 2022 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Calling all cake connoisseurs (or just those that love a sweet treat!) – the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is calling on you to judge its Star Baker Competition.

In aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, you’re invited to the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe to sample delicious cakes and traybakes to vote on who’s cake should be crowned a slice above the rest!

Staff from the PCP will be whisking away to take home a special prize.

PCP chief executive Carol Gaskarth said: “As part of our Macmillan Coffee Morning fundraiser on Thursday, September 29, from 10am until 12pm, we wanted to have a bit of fun and give our community a chance to sample sweet treats and channel their inner Mary Berry or Paul Hollywood!

“It’s for a fantastic cause, people of all ages can vote and while you’re here you’ll have the opportunity to discover local services that can support you, have a ‘cuppa’, a chat and a slice of cake.”

For the cherry on top of the cake, there will be free tea, coffee and cake available from the on-site Garden Kitchen Coffee Shop, with the recommendation to donate to Macmillan Cancer Support.

As part of the event, you can discover local services with Joining the Dots, PCP Cancer Awareness Team, Wellbeing for Life and the County Durham COVID-19 Resilience Service attending.

If tea and coffee isn’t for you, Wellbeing for Life will be offering a mocktail tasting session and recipe card ideas to take home.

Find out more about future events at the PCC and visit www.pcp.uk.net/activities or call 01325 321234.
