Cricket scores from the weekend’s fixtures…

Saturday 20th June – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Maltby 1st XI – weather was overcast and cool. Maltby won the toss and chose to bat first.
Maltby 1st XI 189 for 9 after 50 overs
John Cavanagh 3 for 30, Matty Atkinson 3 for 35 and Colin Myers 2 for 24
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 90 all out after 23 overs.

Newton Aycliffe were well beaten at home to Maltby by 99 runs and Matty Atkinson (sponsored by Emtec Medical Training) was man of the match for some excellent fast bowling taking 3 for 35 from 13 overs. Aycliffe now need to pick themselves up and get ready for their first ever NYSD league cup final on Tuesday evening when they entertain top of the table Stokesley at Moore Lane at 6pm.

Saturday 20th June – NYSD Division 3
Maltby 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was cool and overcast. Maltby won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 86 all out after 33.2 overs
Dan Bowmer 20, Dan Craggs 14 and Tony Travis 13
Maltby 2nd XI – 88 for 6 after 31 overs
Patrick Howe 5 for 28 and Dan Craggs 1 for 26
A very young Aycliffe second team containing six juniors performed really well away at Maltby 2nd XI, but were still beaten by 4 wickets. Leg spin bowler Patrick Howe (sponsored Aycliffe NUFC supporters bus) was again the man of the match taking 5 for 28 from 13 overs.
