Tekmar Energy to supply cable technology for Dutch wind farm

January 3rd, 2020 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

Tekmar Energy has announced a new deal to supply its patented cable protection system (CPS) for international marine contractor Van Oord at a major wind farm development.

Windpark Fryslân is a 382MW near-shore wind farm comprising 89 wind turbines, located six kilometers off the Frisian coast in the Netherlands.

Once constructed it is expected to power around 500,000 households in the region and will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm in inland water.

Tekmar Energy is providing 167 cable protection systems for the infield array cables, providing full protection from topside hang-offs through to burial into the seabed.

Tekmar Energy managing director Russell Edmondson said: “We are delighted that Tekmar has been selected for Windpark Fryslân.

“This continues our trusted relationship with Van Oord and furthers our position as the world market leader in offshore wind cable protection systems”

The product will be produced at Tekmar Energy’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on Aycliffe Business Park.

Tekmar Energy is part of Tekmar Group plc, made up of five companies focused on providing market-leading subsea services and technologies to global offshore energy markets. The group’s primary operating companies are AgileTek Engineering, Ryder Geotechnical, Subsea Innovation, Tekmar Energy and Pipeshield International.
