Teesside University celebrates Investors in People (IiP) Gold success

October 7th, 2021 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

Teesside University’s continuing commitment to developing and supporting its employees has once again been rewarded with a prestigious Investors in People (IiP) Gold award.

IiP status is recognised globally as a mark of excellence and high performance through people management, and the award demonstrates that Teesside University’s approach to people engagement creates positive outcomes for its 2,286 employees.

This is the fourth consecutive occasion the University has achieved the Gold standard since its initial accreditation more than 20 years ago.

Only a small number of organisations attain IiP Gold status, and the achievement reflects the University’s determination to make Teesside a great place to work, and study.

The independent organisational assessment takes place every three years, with additional annual reviews.

This year’s evaluation involved an all-staff survey, and separate informal interviews with a representative selection of colleagues from across all five of its academic schools and 14 central service departments.

In a further endorsement of the University’s approach, the Human Resources (HR) department has been shortlisted in the Best People Team category in the upcoming national Investors in People Awards 2021.

The IiP assessors noted that the HR team has played an important role in supporting the University’s strategy by implementing a range of successful people engagement practices.

These have included a colleague-led development of a Values and Behaviours Framework to aid performance and improve the employee experience.

Other HR initiatives have involved regular colleague Pulse Surveys to inform and enhance its people policies, and ongoing work to develop an inclusive Team Teesside culture across the University.

Juliet Amos, executive director (human resources), said: “We are delighted to achieve the Investors in People Gold award once again, as it recognises the hard work and commitment of all our colleagues in helping to make Teesside University a great place to work and study.

“t also reflects our ambition to support and develop our people to be successful in the workplace, helping the University in turn to achieve sustainable success.

“I am also particularly proud of my Human Resources colleagues for being shortlisted for the IiP Best People Team award. It is deserved recognition for their outstanding efforts in delivering a gold standard employee experience.”
