Students get a taste of Dance City

January 29th, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

The prestigious dance school, Dance City, delivered a contemporary workshop for Woodham Academy students earlier this month.

The students who are part of the school’s own Dance Academy (pictured) took part in a range of taster sessions at the Dance City studios in Newcastle.

The session included exercises that allowed students to perform contemporary pieces while adding their own flare.

The students were also able to show their creative side by choreographing their own short dances to express their personality and individuality.

PE teacher Miss Kent said: “Everyone that attended put in an exceptional amount of effort and had an extremely positive attitude. They really were an asset to the school.

“The high level of skill on the night was evident in the number of students who were invited to extra sessions.”

The Dance City coach leading the session expressed how impressed she was with the work rate and attitude of the students and some students have been included on a list to audition for Dance City’s Centre of Advanced Training.

Those who took part included Esther Young, Emily French, Jessica Cherrie, Katie Leadbitter, Jaycee Latue, Georgina Thelwell, Kira Watson, Charlotte Lough and Lisa Robinson.
