Students celebrate Queen’s birthday with elderly

June 16th, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Lindisfarne Care Home at Silverdale Place joined forces with Woodham Academy to organise an afternoon of celebrations for the Queen’s Official Birthday.

The home, which specialises in care for those suffering from dementia and mental health issues as well as providing general residential and nursing care, organised the event for residents to get in the spirit along with the rest of the country to celebrate her Majesty’s 90h birthday.

The celebrations included a BBQ, scones made by food technology students, entertainment from staff and several songs performed by Woodham Academy music students. The home was decorated with flags and staff dressed up for the occasion to add to the British theme of the day.

The students got the crowd singing with their rendition of Can’t Help falling In Love by Elvis Presley.

Woodham media and marketing officer Gemma Porter said: “It is great to build a rapport in the community and work alongside local partners to pull these events together.

“Our students thoroughly enjoyed entertaining the residents and we would love to work with Lindisfarne Care Home again.”
