Community leader Nev Jones is urging the people of Newton Aycliffe to keep heeding government advice and stay off the streets during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Nev, who runs local firm J&C Coaches as well as the Aycliffe Community Spirit group, spoke to Aycliffe Today in the first of a series of webchats on our Facebook page.
“Nobody is immune from this,” he warned.
“The whole country is going to take a kicking. We have to guard against being complacent when the numbers start to level off.
“We need to stay off the streets until we’re told it’s OK to go back out again.
“I think we’re being well led by the government, but the over-riding message is stay at home – stay vigilant, follow the advice and a lot of us will come through this. Sadly, not all of us will.”
