Spooky Halloween events in County Durham!

October 12th, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

A spook-tacular time is guaranteed at venues across County Durham this Halloween.

From bone-rattling live music to eerie goings-on in a Victorian lead mine, there’s lots happening in the run-up to All Hallow’s Eve.

From Monday, 24 to Friday, 28 October, youngsters can sign up for Hardwick Park’s Wizard School.

The park’s own professor of witchcraft and wizardry will demonstrate how to make the perfect elder wand and there will be a potions class and spooky games in the yurt.

Sessions, which are suitable for children aged six-years-old and over, run from 10am to 11.30am each day and are priced at £6 per person. Booking is essential. Call 03000 262 899.

Wharton Park holds its own Fright Night between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday, 29 October. Meet some ghoulish entertainers on a guided walk around the park before settling down for live music around the campfire.

Outdoor clothing and a torch are a must.

Tickets are priced at £3 per person or £12 for a family ticket for five people. Book in advance by calling Gala Theatre on 03000 266 600.

The park will be closed to anyone without a ticket.

On Sunday, 30 October, Killhope will be the venue for spooks and scares aplenty.

Visitors can take a spooky trip down the museum’s Victorian lead mine, get arty with Halloween crafts, listen to the dark tales of children’s author Adam Bushnell and even have an up-close encounter with a creepy crawly during an animal handling session.

Mine trips, which are suitable for children aged over four-years-old, will take place throughout the day and can be booked on arrival.

Admission charges apply with an additional charge of £3 for the animal handling session and there is no need to book.
