Sisters double win at Cross Country Championships

November 22nd, 2019 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Congratulations to Marissa and Kally Boon who each achieved success at the recent South West Durham Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

The two sisters, who attend Woodham Academy, won their respective races in style finishing at least 100m clear of any other competitors, with Marissa winning the intermediate girls (Years 10 & 11) competition and Kally winning the junior girls (Years 8 & 9) competition.

The competition, held at Barnard Castle School, featured courses ranging from 1.5km-2.5km depending on students’ age range.

Marissa won her race for the third consecutive year. She currently trains with Eastbourne Harriers having been identified as having exceptional talent in this discipline.

Both girls have now qualified for the County Championships in January 2020, alongside Zack Blythe and Harry Brumwell, who came 9th and 10th respectively in their junior boys’ race.
