Show time as school holds performing arts auditions

October 26th, 2023 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Following on from the success of Matilda Jr in July, Woodham Performing Arts Academy has got off to a flying start this year, with auditions for the 2023-24 musical attracting more students than ever.

Performing Arts Academy will be staging the hit musical ‘SIX – Teen Edition’ in March 2024.

The musical, which focuses on the six wives of Henry VIII and explores their stories as individuals rather than as simply the wives of a monarch, has proven incredibly popular, with record numbers of students keen to take part.

“Auditions took place in late September, and the musical production team were faced with some hard decisions to make due to the sheer talent on display,” said the school.

“So many students performed to such a high level that the roles of the six queens have actually been dual cast, meaning that more students will have the opportunity to take on a solo leading role – ranging from more experienced Y11 students to new Y7s.

“In addition, there will be a thirty-strong ensemble cast to supplement the leading roles, making this the largest-scale performance in recent Woodham history.”

Students will now be attending regular rehearsals ahead of their first performance, a sneak preview of the musical which will feature in Woodham’s Winter Concert in December.
