Residents enjoy Wynyard Gardens day out

July 20th, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Local residents from Newton Aycliffe and Middridge shared a wonderful day at Wynyard Hall Rose Gardens organised through Buddies Befriending Service.

Buddies Befriending Service Assistant Sheila Pinkney, who attended the excursion, said: “It was a lovely day, the gardens evoked many memories for people and provided places to sit, relax and reflect.

“The outing also offered an opportunity to meet and share conversation with new friends.”

If you live in the Great Aycliffe and Middridge area and are over 50 years, you can go along to any of the following day trips.

Archers Ice-cream Farm, 28th July 10-2pm
South Shields Park & Seaside, 16th August 10-4pm
Richmond Markets, 22nd September 10-2pm
Preston Park & Butterfly World, 11th October 10-2pm
Sunderland Glass Centre, 15th November 10-2pm
Christmas Buffet and entertainment, 15th December 12.30-2.30pm

Places must be booked in advance. Free transport is provided door to door and on arrival there will be a short registration form to complete to register you with Buddies Befriending Service, if you would like to be matched with a buddy volunteer. All you will need to pay for are entrance fees where applicable, and your own refreshments.

Buddies Befriending Service is funded through the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership (GAMP) and aims to help reduce loneliness and isolation.

Volunteer Buddies can provide support to help people access social activities in the community and to build confidence.

If you would like to book your place or are interested in having a buddy or if you know someone who would benefit from the service, please contact the project team on 01325 329933 or email: [email protected].
