Police remind people to lock garages

January 30th, 2018 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Police are reminding people to lock their garages after a spate of motorcycle thefts.

Durham Constabulary is urging homeowners to not make themselves an easy target for thieves and use simple security measures to avoid crime.

PC Kate Price from Consett Police Office said: “There has been at least two thefts of off-road motorcycles in Consett recently and more across the force area.

“It is important that residents make sure their vehicle is not an easy target for criminals.

“Double check that your garage is locked. Offenders will often try every garage in a street before finding one that is easy pickings.”

Durham Police said if you see anyone acting suspiciously in your area please contact 101 or if you witness a crime in progress contact 999.
