Police appeal for CCTV footage after garage incidents

March 5th, 2016 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Police are appealing for people with CCTV cameras in three areas of Newton Aycliffe to help them with their enquiries.

It comes after a number of unsecured garages were entered by unknown people in a number of Aycliffe residential areas this week.

The incidents happened overnight from Wednesday (2nd March) to the morning of Thursday.

Police are asking for residents in the Woodham ward and also in the area of Hamsterley Road and Bluebell to get in touch.

A statement said: “Can we also take this opportunity to remind everyone to double check that all doors, windows, garages and cars are locked and secure at all times and to check again before going to bed?

“These crimes appear to be opportunistic and the offenders are taking advantage of garages and doors being left insecure.

“Please make every effort to keep your belongings and homes secure.”

Residents with CCTV cameras in the three areas are asked to call police on 101, or message them on their Facebook page.
