Pictures: Greenfield students enjoy Howtown trip

March 29th, 2022 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Greenfield Community College has been able to once again offer activities that support learning through excursions and residential visits.

Earlier this month 30 Year 7 students headed out for the first residential trip since lockdown.

The Outward Bound trip at Greenfield Community College has been going for over 20 years, and offers a great opportunity for students to learn new skills outside the classroom, with a huge focus on collaboration and resilience, two of Greenfield’s key attributes.

Students spent the week in teams doing a range of activities based at the Howtown Centre in the Lake District.

Activities included rowing, rock climbing, expedition and camping, cliff jumping, tunnels and many more.

The students engaged brilliantly and worked well with each other enjoying expert tuition from instructors.

Miss Thurley, who organised the trip, said: “The students gave 100% to the experiences, taking the challenges in their stride.

“Many thanks to staff at Howtown and all of those involved who made this such a worthwhile experience.”

Greenfield say trip will run for the new year 7s next year in April.
