PCP launches new befriending group in County Durham

September 13th, 2021 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe-based Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) is launching a new peer support group as part of their return to focusing on face-to-face befriending services for those living in County Durham.

Created by funding from the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership (GAMP), and sustained by County Durham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) funding, PCP is proud to deliver a service that is transforming to suit community needs.

PCP chief executive Carol Gaskarth said: “During the pandemic PCP launched a new befriending service ‘Every Call Counts’ aiming to connect with isolated people in our communities.

“As we move out of lockdown we’re pleased to be able to provide needed face-to-face support through appointments and a new befriending group.

“Befrienders provide companionship, reassurance and a listening ear, they can help you to form positive relationships and long-term friendships, which are so important as we take our first steps into returning to pre-pandemic times.”

The new friendly and informal befriending group will give people the opportunity to connect with each other in an informal environment, with the next weekly session taking place on Tuesday 21st September from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

The sessions will take place at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe, with refreshments will be available during the session, so you can relax and unwind, whilst having a conversation and meeting new people.

If you are over 18 and live in County Durham, call 01325 329934 or email [email protected] to book a place.
