From mismatched magic socks to polar patterned pairs – odd socks were worn with pride to fundraise for a committed cause.
The Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP)’s project, Together 21, offers an educational support group for children and young people with Down syndrome and their families.
Team Together 21 can’t thank the generosity of its supporters enough, with regional efforts supporting the ‘Rock Your Socks’ for World Down Syndrome Day, on Monday 21 March, 2022.
PCP chief executive Carol Gaskarth said: “This year’s fundraising support has been exceptional with a dad and brother duo of one of our Together 21 members going above and beyond to organise their own ‘Rock Your Socks’ Challenge Run to raise vital funds for the service.
“James, the dad of our new Together 21 member, and son, Harry raised an amazing £1,986.69! We would like to thank all the fantastic companies and community groups that were instrumental in helping James and Harry to their amazing total in support of his sister and all of our Together 21 families.
“Together 21 relies on fundraising support to run the transformative service, with around £69,000 required for delivery, so funds are crucial for supporting children and young people with Down syndrome and their families in the North East.”
Together 21 works to empower parents and carers to help a child with Down syndrome gain key life skills to support their development, through providing access to training, resources, educational support and offers a forum to share practical advice with likeminded families.
PCP and Together 21 would like to say a special thank you to all those who rocked their socks – the Busy Bees Nursey Durham, Sherburn Primary School, Life Skills members Emma and Isaac, Voices of Darlington, Hewitts Solicitors and Animals about Town for their amazing fundraising achievements this year.
Delivered from the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe, Together 21 offers sessions on a Friday and Saturday for children and young people with Down syndrome age 0 to 17.
The team would like to extend thanks to all the families and friends of Together 21, and organisations including the Tynemouth Aquarium, Chadwick and Co, Birdlet Bakery, Tesco Extra in Newton Aycliffe, Deep Kneads Therapy and others, who kindly donated vouchers and items to a raffle.
