‘NO THIRD PARTY INVOLVED’ IN DEATH – POLICE

March 1st, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

By Martin Walker

The death of a man in Darlington on Thursday is still being treated as “unexplained” – but police say they don’t believe there was “any third party involved”.

A post-mortem has been carried out after the man, in his early 40s, was discovered just before 7am at Springfield Park in Darlington.

Police confirmed the body belonged to a man who had connections both in Darlington and Hampshire.

He had been staying at the Harrowgate Hill lodge and where he paid his bill yesterday, but failed to return as expected last night.

“Inquiries are still ongoing,” a police spokeswoman said this afternoon.

“He his not expected to be formally identified until tomorrow. It is still being treated as unexplained, but there’s nothing to suggest, at this time, that there is any third party involved.”

The dead man was 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build with light brown hair and a beard. He was wearing denim jeans, a dark blue hooded top and brown pull on shoes.

Police are wanting to speak to anybody who saw a man fitting this description in the Harrowgate Hill or Springfield area last night or this morning.

Anybody with any information is asked to call police on 101 and ask for Darlington CID, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
