Sunday 17th September – NYSD Women’s 100 Pairs Cup Final at Norton CC

Newton Aycliffe Senior Ladies v Great Ayton Senior Ladies – the weather was mild with sunny spells. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bat first.

Newton Aycliffe Ladies 104 for 5 (net score 79) after 100 balls
Lucinda Hall 13 not out and Anneliese Myers 12

Great Ayton 106 for 6 (net score 76) after 100 balls

Lucinda Hall won the award for the player of the final after her excellent all-round performance during which she top scored in the Aycliffe innings with an unbeaten 13, then when Great Ayton batted, she took a wicket and held on to two vital catches.

Newton Aycliffe Ladies won the cup final by three runs.

Newton Aycliffe’s Ladies senior team (sponsored Recruitrite) have had a remarkable season, during which they won every game they played.

They had already secured two league titles and then they capped it all off by winning the prestigious inaugural NYSD Women’s 100 Ball Pairs Cup competition at Norton Cricket Club on Sunday.

They defeated pre-tournament favourites Great Ayton by just three runs in a dramatic finale that went right down to the last ball. What a way to finish the cricket season.
