NEW BMX TRACK AT WOODHAM PARK

November 19th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

A brand new purpose-built BMX Pump Track has been unveiled in the town.

Great Aycliffe Town Council Mayor Val Raw officially opened the new biking facility at Woodham Park on Woodham Way.

Provision of the facility was a joint venture between Great Aycliffe Town Council, Durham County Council and the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP).

The project received funding from Durham County Council Members’ Neighbourhood Budget from County Councillors Joan Gray and Paul Gittins, with Great Aycliffe Town Council providing ongoing maintenance, signage and insurance cover.

The track has been installed by popular demand and in consultation with local young people.

It was designed and constructed by professional riders and includes a start hill, berms, jumps and obstacles which provide a challenging, enjoyable and free to access facility.

The track is complete and available for use however, due to the time of year and weather conditions, the surrounding banked areas will be landscaped and seeded in the spring.
