New addition inspires rebrand for local husband and wife design agency

December 18th, 2015 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

A husband-and-wife team have undergone a rebrand of their design agency following the birth of their first child.

KINSHIP is the new name for Jonathan and Sarah Carlton’s family business, based on Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe.

Sarah had been the creative force behind her previous business NEON Durham for the last three years, after qualifying from Teesside University in 2009.

But following the arrival of their first child, Benn, four months ago, the couple decided to rebrand the company after 32-year-old Jonathan joined Sarah in her Aycliffe studio as account manager.

KINSHIP, which reflects the husband-and-wife partnership, now has an impressive client list, working with companies across the North-East region.

They include Aycliffe firm Mantis Media and its two B2B publications, Aycliffe Today Business and Tees Business, Darlington Football Club, Durham County Carers Support and Middlesbrough-based literary education firm Sound Training.

Other clients include Teesside-based law firm Endeavour Partnership, The Salvation Army, Freebrough Academy in Saltburn, Shildon-based manufacturer Wilsonart, Hartlepool accountants Walton Clark Whitehill, the YMCA, Saks Apprenticeships, St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham and St John’s School in Bishop Auckland.

“As our family has grown, so has our business,” says 28-year-old Sarah, who studied at Cleveland College of Art & Design and Teesside University before taking up her first role with Aycliffe design and print firm HPM Group in 2009.

“The arrival of Benn coincided with the busiest time for me, so now with the help of Jonathan we can really drive the business forward, giving me time to balance design work with the added pressures of becoming a full-time mum!

“With Jonathan joining me in the business we felt it was a good time to rebrand to reflect our partnership, as well the relationship with our extended family – our clients.

“It’s a really exciting new chapter for us as a family and a business. We have a lot of big projects coming up so the future for KINSHIP is looking bright.”

KINSHIP is based at the thriving HUB Workspace on Welbury Way, Aycliffe Business Park.

Sarah added: “We have always appreciated the importance of a brand and the printed materials that support them, so this is where our focus and passion lies.

“You will mostly find us creating new brands, developing established ones and producing printed matter to really get their message out there.

“We’re also in an ideal location to build on our relationships with local businesses, and we love nothing more than hearing how good design has contributed to their success.

“Our aim is to make the world that little bit brighter, one project at a time.”
