A round-up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.

Under 7’s Reds – Took part in the Middlesbrough FC Foundation tournament and all the little stars played bravely in the heat, producing some wonderful football.

Under 7’s Juniors – Played in the Middlesbrough FC Foundation tournament, playing wonderfully well to get through the groups and play in the final.

Under 10’s Whites – Played against Felling Magpies Blacks, putting in another impressive performance. With consistent pressing, strong tackling, and fast transition, eventually Kai finished from a Harry L cross after a fine team move, then Billy fired home a cracker. MOTM Oscar.

Under 11’s Blacks – Entered the Coxhoe tournament, getting through to the semi-final. All eleven of the available players, worked hard for each other all day and played some great football.

Under 12’s – Entered the Billingham Synthonia tournament, getting through to the final of the plate, drawing 1-1, but being edged on a penalty shootout. The whole team had a wonderful day.

Under 14’s Blacks – Travelled to face Durham Utd Tigers in what was a scrappy game against a physical team, Aycliffe come away with all three points with a great 5-2 win. Jake helped himself to a hat-trick with Danny & Isaac scoring the other goals. MOTM was Adam.

Under 14’s Blacks – Hosted their final game of the season against Felling Magpie Whites at Woodham academy. Having lost to Felling earlier in the season Aycliffe were looking to avenge their loss against the unbeaten league champions. Aycliffe dominated the game, with Jake crossing for Adam to give Aycliffe a 1-0 half time lead. Danny soon doubled the lead before Isaac scored a wonderful goal to give Aycliffe a 3-0 win. In what was another outstanding campaign the Under 14’s Blacks lost only two games from twenty-two on their way to securing back-to-back promotions. MOTM was Danny. Well done to Mark and the team.

Under 17’s – Entertained Deerness at Woodham in the final home game of the season, with a chance of a second-place finish still to play for. In a scrappy game it was Deerness who opened the scoring before Liam equalised to go in level at the break. Morgan gave Aycliffe the lead before Charlie extended that lead scoring with a penalty. Deerness then scored before they were awarded a penalty which George saved magnificently. A great 3-2 win for Aycliffe. MOTM was Morgan.
