NAFC Junior Section round-up

A round-up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.

Under 7’s Whites – Played Whiteleas Cobras and had an exciting game, it was Felix who grabbed a all three goals for Aycliffe with one being spectacular free kick. POTM awarded by parents went to Felix and POTM awarded by the coaches was Oscar who played very well in defence.

Under 7’s Reds – Played at a sunny Sunnydale and put in an amazing performance, with Thomas scoring a superb free kick. MOTM went to Kian who had a superb game.

Under 9’s – Played against Billingham Synthonia, in a tough game, Marshall rattled crossbar with a long range freekick, but Aycliffe couldn’t get the goal they worked so hard for. MOTM was Jenson who made some outstanding saves in goal.

Under 10’s Blacks – Made the long trip to Whitby, playing against very physical opposition, Aycliffe couldn’t manage to get a goal on the day. MOTM was Logan who never stopped competing and made some great tackles. The team then enjoyed Whitby fish and chips, and ice creams after the game.

Under 11’s Blacks – Played against CLS Wolves, in a fantastic performance, it was four goals from four different players, with Jack, Connor, Harry and Benjamin all finding the back of the net. MOTM was shared between Cody for his defensive skills and awareness to get the ball forward and Harry for his good reading of the game and great free kick.

Under 11’s Juniors – Travelled to play Shincliffe in an early kick off, Aycliffe battled hard in a goalless game. Dom made some fantastic saves for Aycliffe. POTM was shared between Dom for another superb game in goal and both Daniel and Jonah for great link up play, communication & driving the team forward.

Under 13’s – Travelled to Hartlepool Reds, with only ten players available it was always going to be a tough assignment, Aycliffe took the lead with Mo getting his first goal for the club, after an excellent assist from Huey. Hartlepool then took advantage of the extra man before Aycliffe snatched a late goal to make 4-2, with Oscar’s shot going in off Mo’s head. MOTM was Oliver who stepped in as captain and played centre back.

Under 14’s Whites – Hosted local rivals Darlington Young Bulls. A fixture that has always been very close over the years, it was a very scrappy game and goalless at half time. Darlington took the lead two minutes into the second half, before Ethan shot from distance to equalise. Joshua’s long shot give Aycliffe the 2-1 victory. MOTM was Charlie who non-stop drove the ball out of defence.

Under 14’s Blacks – Played Spennymoor Town Knights in the Semi Final of the RFYL Cup. Aycliffe started strong and took hold of the game, with Adam giving Aycliffe the lead before half time. In the second half Spennymoor equalised on the break. The draw meant the game went to penalties which ended 4-3 to Spennymoor, a cruel blow for Aycliffe. MOTM was shared between Danny and Jake.

Under 15’s – Travelled to Middleton Rangers, in a game they dominated, they somehow managed to be edged out 3-2. Jack and Jayden scored the goals. MOTM was Jake.
