A round-up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section…

Under 7’s Reds – Played in the Durham FA summer tournament, playing five games across the day. A wonderful experience for the team. The Red’s also played in Sunderland against Velocity Hurricanes.

Under 10 Blacks – Travelled to Skelton United Blues to play three, twenty-minute friendly matches.

With players unavailable due to holiday’s, Aycliffe switched around various positions for the players, but all nine performed superbly. The first game was a tight affair, which was goalless. In the second game, Aycliffe played some great passing football and scored goals through Liam, Fin, and an own goal. Into the third game, it was another tight encounter with Fletcher scoring a great goal off the underside of the bar. MOTM was a joint award to Chase and Fletcher who were both excellent in defence.

Under 11’s Blacks – Played against Eaglescliffe Elementis FC and produced an excellent performance. With players missing, the Under 11’s Whites kindly volunteered four players to join for the day. In an exciting battle, there were goals scored by Jack (4), Rhys (2), Oliver, and Benjamin. A special mention to Alfie for playing in goal today and doing an excellent job.

Under 18’s – Maintained their 100% start to preseason with a 0-2 win away at Darlo 21’st Allstars. The hot weather meant the game was not played at a high pace, but the team come away with the victory. Goals scored by Zack Blythe and Jack Clarkson. They then followed that up with an impressive 1-5 victory away to Hebburn last Sunday in a really impressive performance which was a delight to watch. Goals coming from Milo Harris x2, Zack Blythe x1, Josh Gibson x1 & OG x1.
