A round up of this week’s football from Newton Aycliffe Junior Section.

Under 9’s Whites – Put in a superb performance against Fast Feet Jives, Aycliffe’s goal was a great finish from Oscar, who slotted past the goalkeeper. MOTM was Oscar.

Under 10’s – Played Bishop St Mary’s in a 9v9 game. A strong first half performance kept Bishop incredibly quiet, but Aycliffe could not convert their chances. Aycliffe scored in the second half, with a fantastic run down the wing from Maxi, crossing the ball in for Jonah to finish. Aycliffe battled throughout the second half against a strong Bishop side. MOTM Maxi for his strength & creativity.

Under 10’s Blacks – Played v T & W Dortmund. Aycliffe started off strong, but unfortunately could not take the chances they created. MOTM was Jack who never gave up and made some fantastic tackles & Alfie who worked hard today and made some excellent clearances.

Under 13’s Blacks – Travelled to Consett Cannon, in their last game of the season, hoping to go unbeaten for the full season. Aycliffe won the game with a free kick from Danny. A wonderful team performance and a wonderful way to end the season, congratulations to Mark and the players.

Under 12’s – Played a friendly against Billingham Lions. Aycliffe took the lead through a Callum penalty, before eventually losing 4-1. MOTM was Alexander.

Under 16’s – Hosted top of the table Durham United FC Tigers at Woodham Academy. The league leaders could not break through the high line and the defence led by Charlie and James who were both fantastic. Aycliffe took a deserved first half lead courtesy of Charlie Walton after a great free kick delivery from Anthony McPherson. In the second half, Aycliffe remained on top, changing formation slightly to plug a gap in midfield. Aycliffe were awarded a penalty following a great through ball, with Anthony McPherson finishing well from the spot. A wonderful 2-0 victory to Aycliffe.
