Aycliffe Care Home

Aycliffe Care Home, which is based in Newton Aycliffe and part of Akari Care, welcomed The Mayor of Newton Aycliffe, Councillor Mrs Barbara A Clare, to officially open the newly-refurbished home.

As part of Akari Care’s £12 million investment programme in its homes throughout the UK, the home has undergone a complete re-decoration and refurbishment to improve the surroundings for the residents.

Social areas throughout the home have been refurbished to include new furniture, carpets and curtains in lounges. Dining rooms have new furniture and these areas have new lighting, all of which will help residents and improve their environment.

To make the residents’ personal space more comfortable, bedrooms have been redecorated and all have new carpets, curtains and furniture.

There have also been new bathroom suites installed and modern assisted baths have been fitted, which is making bathing a lot easier and more comfortable.

Located on Burnhope Way, Aycliffe Care Home is a purpose built 54 bedded home providing 24 hour care for general residential and dementia care with nursing.

Aycliffe Care Home is part of Akari Care and aims to maintain lifestyles as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home, with an extensive range of activities which individuals can enjoy and benefit from.

Shirley Summerbell, Peripatetic Manager for Akari Care, said: “The environment of a care home is so important to the well-being of the residents and we are really pleased with the refurbishment. Everything is geared towards achieving positive outcomes for the people who live in our homes and this major investment will make a real difference. Everyone at Aycliffe Care Home enjoyed the celebration and would like to thank Councillor Mrs Barbara A Clare for attending.”
