Junior football round-up

March 15th, 2016 Martin Walker Youth Football 0 comments 0

Aycliffe Juniors had several games on what would have been the last day of the TJFA season for some was it not for the re-arranged fixtures to be played.

Some sides having several games left to play, this will give the players plenty of time to show off the new club merchandise on sale, proudly shown off by Tom (above).

The Under 7’s faced a physically strong Spraire Lads team. The going was tough and the boys were under pressure but put in 100% and pulled together but the results did not go their way. Nothing more could be asked of the team and their great spirit was epitomised by men of the match Josh and Kai.

The Under 8’s had a fantastic afternoon on Saturday when they visited Newcastle United Academy to face their side, they played really well and gained some brilliant memories. Coach Jack and Manager Abi were really proud of all the boys involved in the two games played with the academy manager awarding man of the match to Rhys.

The Under 10 Russell Foster league team earnt a good 2-1 win against Bowburn Youth Bees. It was the first time the team had played on grass in several weeks and the game was fast paced. Bowburn took the lead with a strong shot at the near post. Bo got the equaliser in the second half before Evan stepped up to score the winner. The Parents man of the match was Herbie for a great performance in goal and the players chose Oli as their man of the match. The Under TJFA team scored six unanswered goals in a strong performance at Stockton Town Blues Lucas opened the scoring before Charlie hit 2 goals for a 3-0 lead in only 10 minutes. In the second half two goals from Zack and a second for Lucas completed a 6-0 win.

The Under 11’s went down against a good Darlington TSC side with the Under 12’s travelling to face Coulby Newham. They opened the game with several shots on target and could have got a lead however it was the home team who opened the scoring and Aycliffe were 1-0 down at half time. Coulby gained in confidence in the second half and Aycliffe seemed to tire. After Dylan had scored a great equaliser two goals were conceded and the game ended 3-1. On a day when the Aycliffe team created more they found themselves defeated in a frustrating manner. Jamie was the man of the match in a fault less display.

The Under 14’s lost at home to high flying Redcar Athletic. They came in at half time 3-0 down after an indifferent opening half. The second half saw a great improvement and the game ended 5-1 but there were many positives to build on for next week.

The Under 18 Reds and Under 23’s had games called off again and the Under 18 Blacks lost their unbeaten run against league leaders Ferryhill Town.
