In a major coup for the North-East music scene, Grammy-nominated country artist Jeremy McComb will perform an exclusive and intimate show at Steam Machine Brewing Company on Tuesday, August 26, as part of a limited three-date UK tour.
The Idaho-born singer-songwriter, known for his high-energy performances and heartfelt songwriting, has spent over two decades touring the US and Europe, releasing five albums, and writing for a range of projects – including the triple platinum Blue Collar Comedy Tour soundtrack.
But this will be his first-ever performance in Newton Aycliffe.
“I love that place and I wear their hat all the time – it’s my favourite hat,” McComb said, referencing the Steam Machine cap he’s been spotted wearing in recent social media posts, to his 20,000+ Instagram followers.
“That show’s going to be fun. I can’t wait.”
His UK visit is brief but meaningful, with just three shows scheduled as part of his Running These Roads tour, which also takes in Denmark, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.
“In the UK, I’m only there for three shows,” McComb explained.
“I wanted to make it more limited than we’ve done in the past, and to play such a great venue, that’s right at the heart of the community, really hits the spot.”
McComb will be supported by Gary Quinn. The Manchester-based Northern Irishman is an eight-time British Country Music Association award-winner, and regularly tours the UK and Europe, as well as the US.
Amy Taylor, co-founder of Steam Machine Brewing Company, said the team is thrilled to host such a high-calibre artist.
She said: “It’s not every day a Grammy-nominated artist plays on a business park in Newton Aycliffe!
“His visit is really exciting for us and a real treat for our community – especially as we celebrate our tenth anniversary this summer.”
McComb’s last North-East appearance saw him perform to a packed 2,000-capacity crowd at Newcastle’s NX.
This time, fans can expect a much more intimate experience.
“It’s going to be small and personal,” McComb said.
“I’m not over in the UK this year as much as I have been, so this is a quick run—but I wanted to make it special.”
