Gold medal success for Greenfield athletes

January 11th, 2018 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Students from Greenfield Community College gave an excellent performance in athletics recently when all four teams from different year groups were awarded with medals.

The County qualifying event, organised by Sedgefield SSP Apprentices was a great success, was held at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre and attracted a range of secondary schools from the area including Ferryhill, Sedgefield, Whitworth and Greenfield Community College.

Students from Year 7 and Year 8 competed in a range of track and field events with a number of individuals gaining first place position.

“The event was a great credit to the team of apprentices who were involved with the organisation which included Greenfield’s very own Ben Walton,” said the school.

“All of the Greenfield teams performed to high standard and were worthy medal winners, Year 8 girls achieved an excellent win and earned themselves a place in the County Final which will be held in March 2018.

“Well done to everyone involved and good luck to Year 8 girls in the finals!”
