Going… going… gone! Hair-raising stunt raises £400 for charity

May 30th, 2018 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe shower designer and manufacturer Roman recently held a head shaving fundraiser for the charity MIND.

Apprentice Matthew Brown had his head shaved in front colleagues in Roman’s manufacturing plant.

Matthew, who started an engineering apprenticeship at Roman in September 2017 through South West Durham Training, wanted to money for the MIND charity as members of his family have been affected by mental illness.

Matthew raised nearly £400 for the charity, which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Matthew said: “I have always wanted to do something to raise awareness and funds for MIND charity as I have close family who have been affected by mental illness.

“Everyone knows how much I love my hair, so I decided to get it all shaved off to see how much money I could raise.”
