Exam joy for top class History students

September 23rd, 2015 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Two Woodham Academy students have celebrated scoring full marks in their GCSE History exam, with a third pupil only dropping one mark across two papers.

When the GCSE results were published in August, Olivia Tarn, Emma Sandford-Hodgson and Sian Boultwood, now all 16, discovered they were some of the country’s top performers.

“This is an amazing achievement,” said their History teacher Pam Hall.

“History is a subject that is open to opinion, so I am really proud of the way these students have worked to achieve such a rare and exceptional standard.

“Overall the History department performed extremely well and bucked the national trend.

“The headlines this summer have been dominated by a fall in the number of A/A* grades but Woodham saw an increase in this percentage for History, with nearly 36% of the students taking the subject achieving the highest grades 7.2% above the national average.”

Olivia, Emma and Sian have all gone on to do the A-Levels of their choice.
