ENTERPRISE VOLUNTEER MEANS BUSINESS

February 9th, 2012 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

A branch manager from one of the North East’s leading recruitment agencies is offering school children some very different lessons to help them engage with the world of business.

After becoming a Young Enterprise volunteer, Emma Crocher, interim branch manager at TEMP-TEAM Newton Aycliffe, will be addressing the absence of business in the curriculum by delivering five sessions to pupils aged between five and 12 years old at Saint Joseph’s Primary School, Newton Aycliffe.

The sessions, which Emma will be commencing this month, include such topics as why businesses choose a specific location, the importance of supply chain, people and recruitment, the responsibilities of certain roles within organisations and the various means by which companies communicate with target audiences.

In order to inspire and motivate the children to engage more with these topics, Emma will be starting each of her sessions with an educational game to help boost their understanding of that day’s topic.

It is her hope that the mixture of work and play will help them to get as much out of the sessions as possible and take valuable information away with them at the end.

Emma said: “I’m really excited about becoming a Young Enterprise volunteer and encouraging children to become more interested in the world of business.

“The school curriculum doesn’t include a lot about business, so I’m hoping that I will not only inspire them into becoming entrepreneurs, but also teach them about the world beyond the school gates.

“As a company, TEMP-TEAM prides itself on its support for the local community, and we at Newton Aycliffe have provided volunteers to Young Enterprise in the past to help run similar sessions in schools. It will now be great to be one of those people who are helping to get children excited about the major aspects of business.”
