EASTER BIN COLLECTIONS

March 29th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Scheduled bin collections in County Durham will take place as normal on Good Friday.

Residents whose rubbish and recycling is due to be collected on Friday, April 6 are reminded to leave their bins out for collection as usual.

During the week commencing Monday, 9 April, collections will be one day later than normal in the Durham City, Sedgefield, Teesdale and Wear Valley areas due to the Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be no changes to collections in the former Easington area during the Easter period.

Durham County Council is currently in the process of introducing alternate weekly collections of rubbish and recycling and more efficient collection routes across the county.

The new system and new collection days will start in the Chester-le-Street and Derwentside areas and the villages of Esh Winning, Witton Gilbert and Waterhouses from Tuesday, 3 April.

Residents in these areas should check their collection calendar for specific collection days for their property.

Bins should be left out for collection by 7am on collection day.

For more information about waste and recycling collections, including Frequently Asked Questions and an A to Z of what can be recycled, visit www.durham.gov.uk/bins

For details of your specific collection days, enter your postcode in the My Durham section of any page on the website.

Alternatively, call 03000 26 1000.
