DURHAM WILDCATS GET SET FOR SUCCESS!

May 28th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Durham Wildcats, the County’s own basketball team, have teamed up with Get Set Kids, Newton Aycliffe-based magazine, to promote their Adopt a School Scheme.

The Wildcats felt that Get Set Kids were ideally placed to promote this scheme as they distribute the magazine via 60 primary schools in the County and also to other family venues.

They liked the Get Set Kids ethos of healthy, active lifestyles and “making the most of family life” and felt it was a great fit with what they are trying to achieve.

The scheme is aimed at encouraging local businesses to sponsor a school to work with the Wildcats – in return the business will get some great PR and be able to sponsor a match night and the nominated school will get fantastic coaching from the Wildcats plus the chance to be VIP guests at a game.

Richard Warburton, Alliances Manger with Durham University and the Wildcats, said: “This season, our first in the British Basketball League, has been a real challenge both on and off the court, but a challenge that we have really enjoyed.

“The foundations are in place for a great future, and our Adopt a School Scheme is something we are very excited about.

“This is a great opportunity for local business to get involved with County Durham’s newest professional sports club, but also put something back into the community by adopting a school for our players to work with.”

Emma Ord and Ally Mendelsohn, who run Get Set Kids, said: “We’re really excited at this new partnership with Durham Wildcats and look forward to promoting this unique way for local businesses to get involved with a sports team and help local schools receive basketball coaching from professional players as well as the opportunity to join in on match night.

“We will be running regular articles about the scheme and the team in the magazine as well as competitions to win tickets.

“The matches are a great opportunity for a family night out which we’re keen to promote at every opportunity.”

Watch out for more from this new partnership over the coming months.
