‘Do the right thing by staff and clients’ says business boss

May 1st, 2020 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

A Newton Aycliffe business leader says companies must “do the right thing” by both their staff and clients during the Covid-19 crisis.

Sarah Monk, who owns Aycliffe-based Avec Partnership with her business partner Julie Sowerby, spoke openly during a webchat on Aycliffe Today’s Facebook page this week.

She said people and businesses need to “kick in” and support each other as the coronavirus lockdown drags on.

“It’s getting tough for people, that sense of isolation is really kicking in now,” said Sarah, who featured on the cover of the latest Aycliffe Business magazine.

“Now comes a time when we have to kick in, help and support each other.

“I do think we’re going to come out of this with a different perspective, in terms of appreciating the friendships we have, our social time, and the people who are working on the front line, putting their lives at risk in some areas, and I think the value we all place on people is going to be different, without a doubt.

“It’s a reset for us all.”

And Sarah had a strong message for her fellow business owners out there.

“Do the right thing by your staff and by your clients,” she said.

“The behaviour of people and businesses during these times is what’s remembered ultimately.

“We all have our challenges. You just have to get on with it because there’s a bigger picture at play.”
