Deposits raised for Hollywood hopefuls

April 22nd, 2016 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Enough cash has been raised to pay the deposit for two dancers’ dream trip to Hollywood.

Woodham Academy student Charlie Lough, 15, and 14-year-old Emily Halford, who goes to Greenfield College, have been offered a prized place at The Hollywood Summer Tour in Los Angeles.

Their parents are now organising fundraising events to help cover the cost of the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Enough money has already been raised to cover the deposits, and now they’re organising a tea dance next week to help boost the coffers.

The pair impressed talent scouts at the ‘Move It’ Dance Convention at London’s Excel, performing with their dance school, Stepping Out with Clare Walton.

Emily – who started her career with Aycliffe’s Lee Green Dance School – was spotted whilst taking part in a Karen and Kevin Clifton Latin Lecture, while Charlie took part in the ‘Freestyle Stage’ which was open to anyone and won the whole event, beating well known televised dancers.

Now their parents are appealing for people and local businesses to help fund the pair’s state-side trip, which is expected to cost about £8,000 for both of them – and has to be paid by June.

The girls will both perform at the tea dance, which is being held at St Clare’s Church Saturday 30th April, 3-5pm, with entry £5 including homemade scones, jam and cream.

• Any individuals or businesses who would like to support Charlie and Emily’s fundraising efforts can donate safely online at www.gofundme.com/h8vyvekc. Alternatively, contact Natalie Lough on 07904 677523 or [email protected], or Catherine Halford on 07999 572665 or [email protected]
