DARTS STAR ‘THE BULL’ COMES TO AYCLIFFE!

February 10th, 2014 Aycliffe Today Reporter Community, Football, NAFC, Sport 0 comments 0

2011 Ladbrokes.com World Darts Championship - Day Ten

Darts fans will get a chance to take on popular World Championship star Terry “The Bull” Jenkins during a fundraising event later this year.

Newton Aycliffe FC have arranged for the Sky Sports’ PDC player to come to Aycliffe Sports Club on Friday 9th May.

Jenkins, 50, is the current world number 19 , having previously been ranked number four in the world, during which time he reached the final of no fewer than seven major televised finals.

Nicknamed “The Bull” because of his Herefordshire roots, Jenkins is one of the most popular players on the PDC circuit.

His famous “Bull” gesture is well known, and revered among darts fans. Click here to see it.

Jenkins proved he is still one of the top competitors in world darts at the recent World Championships, scoring a nine-dart finish in his first round game against Per Laursen. Click here to see him in action.

In what promises to be a spectacular event, promoted by Aycliffe Today, Newtonians are being offered the chance to take on The Bull in a leg of 701 darts.

By simply selling spaces on a specially designed darts ‘domino card’ to friends, family and work colleagues, the first 18 people who return the £30 generated by the card will be granted the chance of glory on the oche.

These people will also gain free entry to the event, which is priced at a very reasonable £10 for standard floor seating.

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for the evening, priced at a mere £20, and include early entry to meet Jenkins, the opportunity to share a complimentary pre-event drink with The Bull and access priority seating near the stage for the duration of the evening.

As well as the 18 legs of darts during the evening, there will be a special auction for one further competitor to try their luck against The Bull, as well as a darts themed raffle, table snacks and a special Q&A session with Jenkins at the end of the evening.

One lucky ticket holder will be drawn at random to play the final game of the evening.

The whole night, organised by darts fanatics Paul McGeary and Dan Lewis, promises to bring a bit of the Sky Sports experience to Moore Lane, allowing darts enthusiasts the opportunity to watch, question and play one of the games legends.

McGeary said: “We’ve never tried anything like this before but with the growing popularity of darts it seemed a logical adventure to undertake.”

Lewis added: “This event gives darts fans from the region the opportunity to meet one of their heroes, and play against a leading professional.

“We already have players from all over the county contacting us for the opportunity to take to the oche.”

Standard floor tickets are priced at just £10, and include entry to the event which will have a real darts stage set, lighting, professional MC and walk-on music.

VIP packages are priced at just £20, but there are a limited number available so fans are urged to book up quickly.

Tickets can be booked by contacting Paul on 07703 732342 or Dan at 07581 784726.

Sponsorship packages are available for the evening and start from as little as £25.

If you would like to see your company featured in our specially designed commemorative programme of the evening, or on the stage set next to the dart board, get in touch with us for further details.
