DADS INTO NURSERY

April 16th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

A fun new group to keep dads healthy in Newton Aycliffe has proven popular.

The ‘My dad is well fit’ project has been running in Aycliffe as part of the Dads into Nursery scheme and has seen dads, granddads and male carers spend time with their little ones joining in fun activities also aimed at keeping them healthy.

Sessions have been running at St Joseph’s Way Nursery following on from previous successful programmes at Stephenson’s Way Nursery.

Dads, granddads and their children were encouraged to learn more about healthy eating, dental health and exercise.

Konrad Hayes is father to Chloe and Bobby. He said: “I’ve really enjoyed the project, especially the activities with the children I wouldn’t normally do at home.

“I would definitely encourage other dads to get involved and have a go, we now do more exercise as a family at home and the children get more involved in preparing healthy meals.”

Konrad and his children are pictured enjoying one of the sessions.

For more information on other Dads into Nursery projects call Newton Aycliffe Children’s Centre on: 01325 319 753.
