Cricket Scoreboard: Another win for first team

September 9th, 2015 Martin Walker Cricket 0 comments 0

A round-up of last weekend’s cricket action…

Saturday 5th September – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Sedgefield 2nd XI – weather was cool and cloudy. Sedgefield won the toss and asked Aycliffe to bat first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 225 all out after 35 overs
Sam Telford 69, Stephen Sweeney 45 and Tom Wickins 26
Sedgefield 2nd XI 113 all out after 33.3 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 3 for 16, Luke Telford 3 for 17 and John Cavanagh 3 for 37
Aycliffe had a comfortable home victory against near neighbours Sedgefield by 112 runs. A welcome return to form for Sam Telford (sponsored by Yvonne and Bob Wood), who smashed a seasonal best 68, including nine boundaries, earned him the man of the match award. This fourth consecutive win for Aycliffe now gives them 353 points and pushes them up to fifth place in the 2nd division table with just two games to play.

Saturday 5th September – NYSD Division 3
Bedale 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was cool and cloudy. Bedale won the toss and chose to bat first.
Bedale 1st XI 128 all out after 46.4 overs
Dan Craggs 4 for 25, Jack Slatcher 3 for 13 and Ryan Patrick 1 for 5
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 88 all out after 39.4 overs
Jack Slatcher 20, Danny Weldon 13 and James Brown 13
Aycliffe were disappointed to lose by just 40 runs away to 3rd in the table Bedale. Acting captain Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Mr & Mrs Greaves) earned the man of the match award for an excellent all round display with both bat and ball. Aycliffe now have 252 points and remain in 9th place in the NYSD 3rd division table with just two games left to play.

This week’s fixtures:
Saturday 12th September at 12.30pm
NYSD Division 2: Maltby 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI
NYSD Division 3: Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Maltby 2nd XI
