Craft company to raise money for Aycliffe cancer charity

February 22nd, 2017 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

Newton Aycliffe-based Crafter’s Companion is hosting a day of craft, coffee and cake to raise money for the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group.

The company’s store in Newton Aycliffe will be holding a coffee morning on Sunday March 5, giving visitors the chance to try their hand at card-making, hand sewing and colouring with the Spectrum Noir Colorista range in exchange for a small donation.

There will also be a chance for attendees to browse and buy handmade cards, made by the Crafter’s Companion design team to raise funds on the day.

The money raised at the event will then be matched by Crafter’s Companion and the County Durham Community Foundation, tripling the overall donation.

Amy Rodger, store manager at the Newton Aycliffe store, said, “We’re looking forward to the coffee morning in March, it should be a lot of fun and a great way for our visitors to relax and enjoy trying out different kinds of craft.

“The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group is such an amazing cause and it can really change the lives of people affected by cancer in our community.

“We hope all our regular customers, as well as people who are new to craft, will come along and help us support this worthwhile cause.”

The Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group is designed to bring people together who’ve been affected, directly or indirectly, by cancer.

The group offers support and advice, as well as organising day trips, social events and meals for its members, and works closely with a number of other charities, including Macmillan Cancer Support.

During the event, there will also be a raffle to raise additional funds for the charity.

Crafter’s Companion is a global craft supplies company which sells its products globally online, on TV shopping channels, via independent retailers and in its own UK retail stores in Newton Aycliffe and Chesterfield.

The Newton Aycliffe store holds regular workshops and charity events to support the local community.
