Newton Aycliffe’s cricket captain Chris Palmer made his 750th senior appearance for the club on Saturday in a home game against Stokesley.
Chris made his debut as a 15-year-old in 2000 and quickly established himself in the side, becoming a regular in the first team set up as well as keeping wicket for the league select side at both junior and senior level.
Nine years ago, he broke the club’s appearance record when he made his 517th appearance, surpassing club legend Lee Weldon’s previous record.
Chris also holds the club’s all-time run record, with over 11,500 runs adding to that total the week before his 750th appearance, when he scored 111 not out while leading the first team to victory over Normanby Hall.
To commemorate his 750th appearance, Chris was presented with an engraved clock by club chairman Ian Palmer.
When asked what his future aims were Chris stated that he hoped to reach 1,000 appearances before he finally calls it a day.
