Brass music festival returns for final bash in Newton Aycliffe!

August 16th, 2018 Martin Walker Community 0 comments 0

A carnival atmosphere will descend on a town park next month when an international brass festival sees out the summer with one last bash.

Adverse weather conditions forced Durham County Council and Great Aycliffe Town Council to cancel the Big BRASS Bash party due to take place in Newton Aycliffe in July.

However, they were determined residents would not miss out on the brilliance of BRASS and quickly set about organising a new party for the town.

The date for the rescheduled event has been confirmed as Sunday, September 2 (4-7pm) when Aycliffe residents can enjoy live music and dancing in Town Park.

Entry is free and food and drinks will be available to buy on the site, which is located near Burn Lane.

BRASS is an international festival which celebrates the rich diversity of brass music in the 21st century.

Events take place across County Durham every July, with more than 37,000 people joining in the fun this year.

Paul Gudgin, the festival’s artistic director, said: “We are delighted to announce the new date and are looking forward to sharing the joy of brass music with Great Aycliffe residents.

“We will be releasing further details about the event over the coming weeks.”
