BBC presenter to host Aycliffe Business Make Your Mark Awards

April 25th, 2024 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

A local voice of the Beeb will host the 2024 Aycliffe Business Make Your Mark Awards, being held in just two weeks.

The Aycliffe Business Make Your Mark Awards will be held in the Coleman Suite at Hardwick Hall Hotel on the evening of Thursday, May 9, in front of at least 250 guests.

An authentic voice of the local airwaves, popular BBC Tees radio presenter Gary Phillipson is now in his 30th year as a broadcaster.

During his radio career, he’s been a gardening expert, touchside football reporter and now the MFC Matchday Fanzone host at Middlesbrough FC games.

He was also the presenter, for five years, of the Late Night Zoo phone-in on TFM.

A Sony gold-award winner for the Real Radio breakfast show, he now presents the 11am-2pm show on BBC Radio Tees – a role, Gary says, that means “every day’s a schoolday!”

He added: “I’m delighted to be presenting the Make Your Mark Awards.

“I’ve spoken to some of the wonderful companies on Aycliffe Business Park for features on BBC Tees, I know it’s a thriving hub of entrepreneurialism and ingenuity, and is a major economic driver for the North-East region.”

Martin Walker, from event organisers Resolution Media and Publishing, said: “We’re delighted to have Gary on board to host the awards this year.

“He’s a seasoned professional broadcaster and presented one of our other awards events on Teesside last year.

“We’re sure Gary will do a fantastic job and contribute to what is shaping up to be a brilliant celebration of Aycliffe Business Park.”

The Aycliffe Business Make Your Mark Awards will be held in the Coleman Suite at Hardwick Hall Hotel on the evening of Thursday, May 9, in front of 250+ guests.

Tickets costing £85 per head, or £800 for a table of 10 (+vat), include a welcome drink, table wine, 3-course dinner and a souvenir programme.

They’re available by emailing [email protected].
