February 21st, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Newton Aycliffe woman was hit on the head with a stone while walking through Darlington town centre.

The victim, who’s in her 40’s, was walking along North Road, towards the subway next to Marks and Spencer, at about 2.40pm on Saturday, when she felt the stone hit her on the back of the head.

The woman suffered bruising and concussion and was taken by ambulance to Darlington Memorial Hospital where she stayed overnight.

PC Paul Elliott said it was believed a group of boys and girls were in the subway at the time.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Durham police on 101, quoting incident number DHM-18022012-0363, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
