Aycliffe up to second in table

Saturday 23rd May – NYSD Division 2

Yarm 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 281 for 3 after 50 overs.
Tom Young 118, Joe Haines 92 not out and John Cavanagh 43
Yarm 1st XI 207 for 8 after 50 overs
Colin Myers 3 for 34 and Sean Morgan 3 for 42
Newton Aycliffe could only draw away at Yarm despite a very impressive batting performance, especially from openers Tom Young (man of the match) and Joe Haines as the pair put on a club equalling 1st wicket partnership record of 183.
Young’s career best score of 118 contained 15 boundaries and one six and Haines career best innings included 11 boundaries and one six.

Bank Holiday Monday 25th May – NYSD Division 2

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Darlington RA 1st XI
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 195 all out after 42.2 overs.
Chris Palmer 51, Michael Howe 32 and Sam Telford 22
Darlington RA 1st XI 130 all out after 34.2 overs
James Layfield-Carroll 3 for 32, Michael Howe 2 for 5 and John Cavanagh 2 for 10
Newton Aycliffe 1st team had a comfortable 65 run victory at home to Darlington RA, thanks to a welcome return to form from captain Chris Palmer (sponsored by Vanilla Design and Print) who earned the man of the match award for an excellent score of 51.
Aycliffe’s draw and win over the weekend gave them a new points total of 120 and see’s them jump up to 2nd place in the NYSD 2nd division table.

Saturday 23rd May – NYSD Division 3

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Saltburn 2nd XI
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 197 all out after 44.1 overs
Adam Lamb 41, Ryan Patrick 26 not out, Craig Robertson 23 and Ben Nicholson 23
Saltburn 2nd XI – 43 all out after 23.1 overs
Jack Slatcher 5 for 11 and Tom Wickins 4 for 13
Newton Aycliffe seconds set a new club record with the highest 2nd team victory margin when they defeated Saltburn 2nd XI by a mammoth 154 runs. 14 year old Adam Lamb (41 runs) and 15 year old Ryan Patrick (26 not out) also set a new 2nd team record with a 10th wicket partnership of 73. Youngster Adam Lamb (sponsored by House of Eden Nursery) was given the man of the match award for his innings of 41.

Bank Holiday Monday 25th May – NYSD Division 3
Yarm 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – 165 for 9 after 50 overs
Adam Gittins 39, Trevor Shingler 29 not out and John Wardle 17
Yarm 2nd XI – 169 for 5 after 39.1 overs
Danny Weldon 2 for 35 and Jack Slatcher 2 for 53
Newton Aycliffe 2nd team had a mixed weekend, after their record breaking win on Saturday they suffered a 5 wicket defeat away at Yarm on the Bank Holiday Monday. The 30 points claimed over the weekend has moved the team into the middle of the 3rd division table with 77 points.
