AYCLIFFE PHARMACY INVESTS IN NEW FACILITIES

March 16th, 2012 Martin Walker News 0 comments 0

Neville Pharmacy in Newton Aycliffe has invested almost £500,000 in expanding its presence in the town.

It has opened a new facility adjoining the Bewick Crescent Surgery, creating five new jobs.

The location of the new Bewick Pharmacy will give the surgery’s patients convenience of an on-site pharmacy for prescriptions. The shop will also stock a wide range of over the counter medicines, with the expertise of a qualified pharmacist ready available.

The new positions created as a result of the investment are a counter assistant, three dispensers and a pharmacist.

The original Neville pharmacy, which was acquired from North East chain Norchem in September 2006, has been providing services from its Neville Parade outlet for more than 60 years.

Bewick Pharmacy was officially opened by Dr Brian Jones and Dr Burt Chamberlain, who are former partners at the Bewick Crescent surgery. Dr Chamberlain’s father was the original owner of Neville Pharmacy in 1952.

Neville Pharmacy is also enhancing its service and expanding its free personal delivery service for all customers’ prescriptions presented to the pharmacy on Neville Parade, making it easier and more flexible for customers to receive their medication. Neville Pharmacy collects prescriptions from all surgeries in Newton Aycliffe and will deliver them to your home or workplace in Newton Aycliffe and the surrounding area.

Rob Pitt, Managing Director of Bewick Pharmacy, said: “We are delighted to officially open the new pharmacy next to Bewick Crescent Surgery. This investment will enable us to service the surgery’s patients and the wider community.

“We have put together a team of quality staff to ensure a high level of service and expertise.

“Neville Pharmacy will now operate a bespoke delivery service, across Newton Aycliffe and to residents who live a little further afield. This free service will be of great benefit to many people, particularly the elderly and housebound.

“Neville Pharmacy has been the core service for residents in Newton Aycliffe for around 60 years. We are proud to be expanding our services to offer integral facilities for patients of Bewick Crescent Surgery. We will still be offering a full range of products at Neville Parade with the addition of a bespoke prescription delivery service.
