Aycliffe is ‘prime’ location for new industrial development

July 5th, 2023 Martin Walker Business 0 comments 0

Developers have targeted Newton Aycliffe as literally the “prime location” for a new industrial development.

Manchester-based property firm Prime Group has launched Prime Point Durham, an industrial scheme of two units totalling close to 80,000 sq ft, for Aycliffe Business Park.

Prime Point Durham is located at Carlbury Road, which runs to the east of and adjacent with Durham Way South on the business park.

Prime Group has appointed HTA Real Estate and Connect Property North East as joint agents on the scheme, which will comprise units of 36,069 sq ft and 41,592 sq ft.

HTA director Nick Atkinson said: “Aycliffe Business Park is the biggest industrial estate in the region and new units such as these are in high demand from both manufacturers and warehouse operators alike.”

Jonathan Simpson, director at Connect Property North East, said: “The proposed development is excellent news for the estate, the new units will bring some much-needed stock for both Newton Aycliffe and the wider area.

“Buildings of this size are currently non-existent on the estate, as occupancy levels are at a record high.”

Both of the units include ancillary office space and offer eaves heights of up to 12 metres.

Each unit will include around 35 car parking spaces, including EV charging points.

EPC ‘A’ ratings will be targeted and the units are available on a design and build basis.

Prime Group director Imran Younus added: “Prime Point Durham is an excellent location, and we’re confident the product on offer will appeal to occupiers in the local and regional market.

“Prime has established a strong reputation for delivering in the sector, and we look forward to making further announcements in due course.”
