Saturday 12th July – NYSD Division 3
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Maltby 1st XI – the weather was very hot and sunny. Maltby won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Aycliffe’s first team were beaten by seven wickets at home to promotion favourites Maltby 1sts asked to bat first, Aycliffe were bowled out for just 106 with all of the Aycliffe batsmen struggling to score runs on a tricky wicket.
However, Shashank Garg managed to find some form when he top scored with 20 off 34 balls, reaching the boundary on four occasions. Makeshift opener Jai Sander also deserved credit scoring 14 runs from 50 balls against two very lively Maltby opening bowlers.
In reply, the visitors coasted to victory with more than 31 overs in hand, despite a wicket each for Matty Greaves (sponsored by Britannia Fire), Tom Dearden and his younger brother Will.
The defeat drops Aycliffe down from third to fourth in the third division table with 185 points from 13 games played.

Billingham Synthonia 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – the weather was very hot and sunny. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.

The young Aycliffe 2nd team were well beaten by 166 runs away at runaway league leaders Billingham Synthonia 2nds.
Choosing to bowl first, Aycliffe struggled to contain the homeside batsmen as they raced to 205 for 4 declared despite Jon Tait having some success with the ball, finishing with 2 for 52 from his long ten over spell, his first wickets for the club.
In reply, Aycliffe were skittled for their lowest score of the season, reaching just 39 off 29.4 overs with only opener batsman Matty French (pictured above) showing any resistance, with a truly defiant 15 runs off 84 balls faced, including two boundaries.
