Asked to bat first Aycliffe piled up the runs with their highest innings total this season, finishing their allotted 40 overs with a huge 295 for 7.
Eighteen-year-old Tom Dearden top scored with a superb 88 from 83 balls including 15 boundaries and three sixes.
Special mention must also go to Matty Greaves (sponsored by Britannia Fire, pictured above) who smashed an unbeaten 50 off just 22 balls and his impressive innings contained six boundaries and two sixes.
When Sedgefield replied, good bowling from Leo Mercy and Matty Greaves, who each took three wickets, helped to set up the game for a thrilling finale. With one wicket needed for victory, Tom Dearden was tasked to bowl the 40th over and sent his team into raptures when he cleaned bowled the visitor’s last batsman off his final ball.
